Hello Abelefk01,

The dominion of thumb I am aware of is that nearly 2500 meters is the maximum altitude for a salubrious infant.
However, you should consult your dr. to be sure.

In a modern pressurized airliner y'all are at almost 7000 anxiety in a higher place bounding main level (divide past three.28) you are at about 2100 meters altitude fifty-fifty if the plane is at 30000 feet. With a healthy baby that is OK. Enquire the doc. Hydration is of import for all at altitude. Nearly babies still take a fontanel at this age, so that is a built in barometer for the force per unit area in your child's head if held upright.

A little different since we are staying for calendar week...while on a airplane you lot will exist the well-nigh for xvi hours...asked pediatrician and she said all heights are fine ??!! Don't call up that makes sense...she probably doesn't accept any experience in this surface area...

Accommodation to acme begins with the plane ride and continues for nearly 3 weeks, so each day, progress is made to acclimatization.

Hi Abelefko1

Co-ordinate to babycenter.com and their pediatric pulmonologist from Denver, infants over 3 months of age have the same susceptibility to altitude sickness every bit an adult. It has to practice with how mature the lungs are and apparently after iii months the lungs oxygen transfer adequacy per torso size is like to an developed. The web site gives the signs and symptoms to expect for in an infant equally of course their advice is limited and treatment if needed. I would think staying at 8000 ft or beneath would be ok and short trips to 10,000 ft would be ok. Marker

Hi Abelefko1,

I have fastened the recommendations of Royal Children'southward Hospital, Australia, for the infants and children travelling to higher altitudes.

Being a Pediatrician , I tin personally suggest, any healthy infant more than six months of age tin can travel, provided stay duration not more than 24 hours. This is to exist on the safer side. Merely the commodity which i accept attached, says infants beyond three months of age can safely travel.

Hope this would assistance you lot.

These recommendations are for altitudes more than than 3000 meters.

1500 meters as yous mentioned, should not be an issue.

Take a physical check for your infant with your Pedaitrician before your travel.

Hi anybody,

As far equally I know, the warnings are not just because young lungs might exist more sensitive to loftier altitudes. More chiefly, toddlers can't communicate if something is wrong with them, and more specifically: what is wrong with them. Apart from the youngest ones equally Siva says, the bulk volition be perfectly fine for short day trips to the peaks or staying longer in any inhabited place in the Alps. The difficulty is how a parent should know if the altitude is causing the baby discomfort. A babe may cry for many reasons.

I'g an ophthalmologist in the The states, so this not my area of expertise. However I believe in following testify based medicine and the medical studies evidence altitude sickness can occur at elevation higher up 2500 meters or 8000 ft. At those altitudes mild symptoms as fatigue and headaches can occur. Serious problems namely pulmonary edema or cerebral edema occur at much college altitudes afterward stays of 3 or more days and are associated with exertion and rapid assent. All the studies show a 5 month former good for you infant is no more susceptible than an adult. Of form the decision to get or not is a personal one just at the altitudes you are talking near, I would be comfortable taking my own 5 month quondam child. Mark

With a good for you child I would merely avoid going to places over 2500 thousand. And then no day trips to places similar Klein Matterhorn, but there is even so a lot left to explore. All Swiss towns and almost all hotels are below that altitude, then no problem to stay there.

If you are going to stay at 1500m for few days, there shouldn't be any issues.

I don't know most that surface area. If possible take a break for few hours in between and then continue.

Check for medical facilities near past your accomodation in case of need. Every bit Marker said, I would take my own child for few days stay at 1500m.

Happy holidays
